Description |
The Centre for Community Organisation and Development (CCODE) is a Malawian non profit organization which was founded in 2003. CCODE was established mainly to enhance the quality of livelihood of the poor in Malawi by empowering them to change their lives. Among other things the organisation provides loan fund for the construction of low cost houses, train community groups in various skills, and provide financial capital for the establishment of small businesses. The organisation holds the belief that purposeful action is needed to promote the inclusion of the poor in development.

The overall goal of the SuSanA is to contribute to the achievement of the MDGs by promoting sanitation systems which take into consideration all aspects of sustainability.
The MDGs and the UN's "International Year of Sanitation 2008" are highly appreciated by the "Sustainable Sanitation Alliance" as they help push sanitation high up in the political agenda. The main focus of the work of the "Sustainable Sanitation Alliance" will be to promote the implementation of sustainable sanitation systems in large scale water and sanitation programmes, in line with the strategies proposed e.g. by WHO, UNDP-PEP, UNSGAB and UNESCO.

Description |
TED - a Lesotho based NGO registered in 2004 - is integrated in national and international networks on renewable energies, sustainable sanitation, and climate protection through biodiversity conservation and avoidance of land degradation. Since 2005, TED contributes to international knowledge sharing through consultancy work and lectures at national and international Universities and Summer Academies. Since 2006, TED cooperates with BORDA, a Germany based NGO dealing with Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Systems (DEWATS).
Since 2007 TED coordinates the activities of the Programme for Basic Energy Conservation (ProBEC) that works under the chairmanship of the Department of Energy of the Ministry of Natural Resources in dissemination of Biomass Energy Conserving Technologies.
In 2010 TED was appointed the Coordinator of Lesotho WASH United 2010 Campaign that uses sport and celebrities to promote Sanitation, Hand Washing with Soap and water and sanitation as a human right.
TEDs mission is the dissemination of appropriate technologies which are environmentally friendly and integrate well into the socio-economic conditions at hand. A primary focus of TED is the engineering and fine-tuning of suitable technologies to foster their long-term adoption by the Basotho. This includes the design of the production process which takes into consideration the present economic structures, the available environmental ressources, the local expertise and cultural particularities.
